iSafe Citizen is a private, independently operated emergency assistance application. It is not owned, operated, managed, endorsed by, or affiliated with the South African Government, any government department or agency, or any official government emergency service. iSafe Citizen does not represent any government entity and is not a substitute for official emergency services.

iSafe Citizen is committed to protecting your personal information and ensuring your data is handled responsibly. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we share it.

1. Information We Collect

• Emergency contacts
• Usage and incident data

2. How We Use Your Data

• Provide emergency assistance and coordination services
• Share your location with responders during alerts

iSafe Citizen does not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with, and we are not acting on behalf of, any government entity. Data is shared only to the extent necessary to respond to an emergency alert you initiate, or where required by law.

8. Accessibility Service Usage

iSafe Citizen uses Android's AccessibilityService API solely to detect volume button presses when this feature is explicitly enabled by the user. When triggered, the app may send an emergency alert, share your location with authorized responders, and notify your emergency contacts.

Important information:

• The service must be manually enabled by the user through the device's Accessibility Settings.
• Volume-button detection functions only while the service is active.
• The service exclusively supports emergency SOS alert activation.
• No screen content is read, and no keystrokes, messages, or user activity are monitored or recorded.
• Users may disable the service at any time via Settings > Accessibility.
• The feature is intended strictly for safety purposes.

iSafe Citizen is a private public-safety digital coordination platform and does not replace official government emergency services.
